Modified recipe from good ol' Better Homes and Gardens
This will take at least 24 hours!! Not for immediate wine slushie needs
(For ages 21 and over, of course)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 750ml bottle sweet red or white wine
2 T brandy (or to taste), your choice. Blackberry is yummy
Cut lemon and orange into eighths. Place into saucepan. Other fruit can be added, too. Cherries and berries come to mind. For syrup, add sugar and water to the saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool. Remove cooked fruit from syrup and discard. Pour cooled mixture into a large plastic container or bowl. A 2 qt pitcher will do if needed. Add bottle of wine and brandy and stir. Put in freezer and wait. And wait. Usually overnight will do it.
The alcohol won't freeze but everything else will. Scrape delicious frozen concoction with side of a spoon into fancy hurricane glass or margarita glass. Invite friends over and enjoy!
